Being evil is bad — in both real and virtual worlds. If someone harms others to reach some stupid goals or to have fun in a perverted way… ok, evilness can take so many forms, and I’m not gonna talk about that. But one thing I wish to discuss here is how darn awesome those evil characters are in fighting games! And especially if these are Dragon Ball FighterZ characters.
The Freedom of Being an Antagonist
Most game heroes are too serious. They have important missions to accomplish and noble paths to follow. It’s definitely a great feeling to save the world from destruction or just dedicate your whole life to hard practice for becoming the best warrior in the Universe. Still, in fighting games, it’s somewhat boring, don’t you think?
Beyond the story modes, the bright motivation of protagonists does not affect the actual fights. Players spend a few hours learning basic mechanics and discovering the characters’ backgrounds, and then the story mode becomes forgotten — multiplayer matches are always the central part. Noble heroes are so often limited by their principles and aspirations.
Game villains live in a different dimension. When their story-mode attempts of world destruction/domination are over, they jump to the new level of being hilariously arrogant, somewhat cruel, breathtakingly powerful, and totally limitless. It seems like they know how to have fun and use this skill to the fullest.
And yeah, morale-wise, it doesn’t really matter who you play, the best hero or the worst antagonist. Both try to beat the sh… you know, that thing out of their opponents. Having one of Dragon Ball FighterZ characters under your control is a superior level of excitement.
Bad Guys of DBFZ are so Good at Fighting
The villains of this game/anime are not like the others. First of all, they are overpowered. Their main enemy, Goku, always manages to find a new training master to reach absolutely mind-blowing levels of might. That’s why his opponents should always be better, stronger. Otherwise, Goku will lose any purpose in his anime life, and the whole adventure will be over.
Each new villain Goku meets is significantly more dangerous than the previous one. At some point, being able to burn the whole city in a split second is not enough to hope to defeat Goku. So, the authors introduced us to cosmic god-like tyrants with incredible paranormal abilities. They don’t even need such things as world domination because they already have more than this. Dragon Ball villains are evil for the sake of being evil.
The game itself doesn’t allow antagonists or protagonists to keep their advantage and be stronger than everyone else. Fighting should be perfectly balanced to be good on the competitive level. We don’t need broken characters as they break the whole experience!
Villains in Dragon Ball FighterZ are just cool! They bring a special atmosphere into your matches — with their over-the-top personalities and spectacular fighting moves.
Choose Your Evil Fighter!
Let’s move from the general discussion to specific Dragon Ball FighterZ characters. Dragon Ball FighterZ has quite a selection, and I want to describe here only those I consider the best.
Frieza
This villain is my personal favorite. He looks like a proper alien, and he is so arrogant that even Vegeta is a polite kid in comparison. Frieza is a cosmic tyrant who gathered an army of the best (evil) warriors of the Galaxy (and probably the whole Universe) to spread chaos and destruction. What a guy!
In the game, Frieza uses his extraordinary powers to control gravity and shoot explosive energy beams. His screams “Die” might make the opponent tremble in fear (or not, they are still fun).
Android 21
The very presence of this character proves the highest creative quality of the game. Android 21 is a unique villain, created especially for Dragon Ball FighterZ. And she is awesome! Imagine, she turns the most powerful warriors into candies and then eats them to satisfy her hunger and become stronger. After eating quite a few of those, the girl is almost unstoppable.
Android 21 is merciless in fights. Her attacks are so quick, and she strikes with a kind of electricity. And yeah, turning the opponent into a delicious candy — not many villains have such a brilliant ability.
Cell
This creature was created by the Supercomputer of Dr. Gero, an ingenious but pretty mad scientist. The cell is a Bio-Android who has traits of the strongest fighters, such as Goku, Piccolo, Frieza, and Vegeta. He strives to his personal perfection, and to become omnipotent, Cell absorbs his opponents. Like literally, consumes on the energy level.
Attacks and Moves of Cell in DBFZ are spectacular. In fights, he has lots of effective tools: for long-range strikes, for dealing high damage, for screaming loudly to scare everyone (is that really effective?). Anyways, Cell is a versatile fighter, and all the fighting styles look extraordinary with him.
Broly
Saiyans are a race of super-strong warriors. Every thousand years, they got an especially powerful guy, a Legendary Super Saiyan. Broly is that incarnation of the Saiyan might. He is so strong that the king of Saiyans decided to murder the kid and remove such a threat to the throne. Brolly easily protected himself and his father to flee and train on a remote planet. He tries to gain enough power and destroy them all.
Broly has an evil alter ego. He enters this state and starts killing everything around him. To stop that, the father started mind-controlling his son. The trick worked for the time being, but then the personal revenge took the power over Broly, he lost his mind and reached the stage of exceptional might. The reason for the revenge is hilarious, priceless — as a baby, Goku cried too loudly in his neighboring incubator (bastard).
In Dragon Ball FighterZ, Broly is awesomely huge. He is towering over everyone, and that looks impressive. His fighting style is based on keeping the opponents at a distance and effectively destroying them with projectiles. Do you want to add into your roster a mad evil giant who can’t control his emotions? Broly is exactly such a villain!
Super Baby 2
Even if he is not at the top of Dragon Ball FighterZ tiers, Super Baby 2 is one of the strongest and most unusual characters. He doesn’t use the straightforward might of Broly or the paranormal abilities of Frieza. His strength in using a parasitic life form to take over the bodies of his opponents. It’s a tricky and very effective way to take revenge on Saiyans who destroyed the whole nation of Super Baby, Tuffle.
The character is a victim who went too far in his revenge. He defeated almost all the most prominent warriors of Earth to face Goku (who is a hero but also a Saiyan). Without making stuff too complicated, Super Baby is totally great at his evil creativity.
Super Baby 2 controls the situation in DBFZ matches with his strong neutral attacks and very effective projectiles. He shoots different sorts of energy, throws opponents, and just lands quick hits. And he can transform into a giant ape to stomp the opponent. That looks so impressive!
Oh, I just have to stop. Otherwise, the list of the best villains will include all the Dragon Ball antagonists in the FighterZ game. (Yep, I enjoy playing them all!). Janemba is such a ruthless creature; he wants only destruction. Nappa might not be the cleverest, but his raw muscle power is pretty fantastic. Kid Buu can’t even talk properly, but this small vicious guy is so frightening. Goku Black is immensely evil! He wanted to kill all mortals and actually murdered the divine creation of his universe, Supreme Kai. And Captain Ginyu — their fighting poses are so cool…
To enjoy playing villains in Dragon Ball FighterZ and any other fighting games you should not take them seriously. Their deeds in the imaginary world might be awful, but they are so fun in fighting matches. So, who do you like the most?
