While the Super Earth forces in Helldivers 2 prepare to invade Cyberstan to stop the bots from constructing their own Democracy Space Station (DSS) and dismantle the Automaton threat once and for all, a close inspection of Arrowhead Game Studios’ latest promotional material suggests the mission parameters may be far more complex and dangerous than High Command is letting on.
Arrowhead recently confirmed that the next major theater of war will take place on Cyberstan, the Automaton homeworld. To assist in the massive offensive tasks, the studio has deployed heavy reinforcements, including the returning TD-220 Bastion Tank and the heavy-hitting Siege Breakers Warbond.
However, eagle-eyed players who closely watched the March Towards Cyberstan video believe the Automatons are merely the vanguard for an old more sinister enemy. The speculation centers on a specific art piece you can see around the video’s 2-minute mark.
We can see an intresting non-automaton-like figure in the new poster

A Reddit user, Sad-Needleworker-590, was the first to spot the weird figure, a humanoid shape behind the Automaton troops. The silhouette appears way chunkier and more alive than the usual bots, which has everyone curious about who it could be. While Arrowhead hasn’t said anything, it has fueled attention to Cyberstan’s story.
The majority of the community thinks this figure is the Cyborgs, the original antagonists from the first Helldivers game. A century ago, the Cyborgs were the creators of the Automatons and were imprisoned by Super Earth on Cyberstan. Their disappearance has been a lingering plot thread since Helldivers 2 launched, and this visual clue might be the first confirmation of their return.

Helldivers
As reported by GamesRadar, adding fuel to the fire is a recent mysterious binary message by Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani. When translated, the text reads: “You’ll sht your pants.”* Even though typical of Jorjani’s colorful communication style, the ominous warning, combined with the terrifying new terrain from the Cyberstan trailer, can mean a difficulty spike that standard Automatons can’t account for.
The Cyborgs might not be the only surprise waiting on the surface. Players have been picking apart the same poster and spotted what looks like an Illuminate dropship silhouette in the background sky. The Illuminate are the squid-like aliens from the first game, rumored to be the third faction for months.
The Illuminate haven’t yet arrived in Helldivers 2, but their presence is highly foreshadowed through in-game messages, datamined assets, and narrative escalation over recent months. If accurate, Helldivers will face its nightmare scenario: different enemy factions attacking Cyberstan at once or possibly even working together.

Helldivers
From an operational perspective, Arrowhead has confirmed that the Cyberstan update will introduce new equipment for large-scale engagements. These include the TD-220 Bastion tank Stratagem, a four-player vehicle equipped with a 120mm high-velocity cannon that can crack heavy armor, paired with a coaxial machine gun for crowd control, and new weapons in the Siege Breakers Warbond. These inclusions offer direction for the upcoming battles that will likely be more complex and long-lasting than before.
Although the mysterious thing is probably concept art or a rendering error, the convergence of story, leaks, and developer teasing points toward a big narrative escalation. If the Cyborgs are indeed active on Cyberstan, the war for the Automaton homeworld won’t be a simple extermination mission—it will be a fight for survival against the architects of the machine war.
Helldivers should equip the new Siege Breakers gear and prepare for heavy resistance. The bots were just the beginning.
