Losomn in Remnant 2 throws brain teasers at you, and the Postulant’s Parlor (a creepy, non-procedural dungeon) has one of the challenging ones. Walk into this place, and you’ll find a dead-silent Fae statue sitting at a game board, daring you to figure out its Three Man Morris (or tic-tac-toe on steroids). Scattered notes nearby swear the thing’s a dirty cheater with no rules, but that’s complete garbage.
The Postulant’s Parlor chest puzzle follows strict logic, and once you crack the pattern, you’ll walk away with a powerful bow, a full armor set, and a co-op exclusive ring. Though this dungeon only appears during Beatific Palace runs in Losomn, and the door mechanics link directly to the board game – every piece you move opens or locks specific rooms across the nine-grid layout. The game looks rigged, but once you get the hang of the chessboard, you can easily manipulate the AI. Here’s how to beat the Postulant, unlock every room, and get all the loot.
The Postulant’s Parlor Map & Mechanics Explained

When you open the map, you can see that the Postulant’s Parlor area has nine rooms arranged in a 3×3 grid, with the Postulant’s chamber at the top. The game board reflects this exact layout. Every piece placement on that board relates to a room in the dungeon.
Here’s how doors work:
- White piece on a spot = all doors to that room open, including the one guarding the high-tier loot.
- Black piece on a spot = all doors to that room lock.
- Empty spot = doors open, and you can walk through the room, but the treasure room’s gate will remain shut.
You will play with three white pieces, and the statue controls three black ones. Pieces slide along the lines shown on the board – vertically, horizontally, and diagonally toward the center.
How to Solve the Postulant’s Parlor Chess Puzzle for the Royal Hunting Bow

Every time, the board resets to the same original places where it was when you started. White pieces sit at the center, bottom center, and right center. Black pieces take the top right, bottom right, and left center.
Step 1: Slide your center white piece up to the top-center.
Step 2: The statue needs to move its bottom right black piece to the center. Sometimes it will move a different piece instead. When that happens, shift your top center piece to the top left, then back to the top center. It will force the statue to reconsider. Keep repeating until the bottom right black piece moves to the middle.
Step 3: Once that opponent piece is in the center, move your bottom center white piece left to the bottom left. The statue’s left center piece will shift up one space.
Step 4: Move the same piece (currently at the bottom left) up to the left center.
Step 5: The statue has no choice but to move its center chess piece. Now slide your top center one back down to the center. Three whites in a row and you win. Congrats!
The door behind the Postulant will open, from where you can pick the Royal Hunting Bow. If you lose, you will receive one stack of Cursed. Hit five stacks, and you die. You can bypass this penalty by equipping the Hex Ward ring, which gives you infinite tries without having to burn Purifying Salves or reset at the World Stone. Rest at a checkpoint to clear Cursed status, though this will respawn all enemies.
How to Get the Royal Fae Armor

The Fae Royal heavy armor set (120 armor, 52 weight) is found in the top right room. Strong resistances to Bleed, Fire, and Blight make it worth getting. With the right build, you can wear it at medium weight. To open the room door, move a white piece in the top right corner.
Sit down at the table to force a board reset for the next chess round and execute these moves:
Move 1: Slide the center white piece to the top left. The statue will then move the left black piece down to the bottom left. If it doesn’t, reset the board and try again; move your piece around until the statue makes the correct play.
Move 2: Move the middle right white piece into the center. The AI will attempt to block a vertical win by moving the top right black piece to the top middle.
Move 3: Move your right center white piece up to the right center spot.
This will open the top right room and keep the path to your starting position clear. Leave the board, head through, and collect all pieces of the Fae Royal Armor Set.
How to Get Game Master’s Pride Ring

Game Master’s Pride ring splits damage and healing between all players who wear it, but cuts healing in half. Everyone needs to equip it for the effect to work, so coordinate with your team.
Note: You cannot get it playing solo because it requires two people to manipulate a double door airlock system.
Setup: Player 1 will go to the Postulant’s room. Player 2 will need to wait in the bottom left corner of the dungeon (room 7 on the grid) and stand right next to the wooden door.
Step 1: Player 1 will sit at the board and move the bottom center white piece to the bottom left to lift the first door.
Step 2: Player 2 will then move through the now opened door into the small corridor.
Step 3: Next, Player 1 will move that white piece away from the bottom left to any other spot. It will result in the first door dropping behind Player 2, but the second door ahead will open.
Step 4: Player 2 can then go and collect the Game Master’s Pride ring, which will automatically add to both players’ inventories.

The Postulant’s Parlor is fixed, so there aren’t any random events or layout shifts like in other zones in Remnant 2. Rooms 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are open from the start, and you can simply walk inside. Usually, you’ll find standard chests with the usual consumables and scrap, and Tome of Knowledge in a fixed spot.
A random ring or amulet from Losomn’s loot pool can be found somewhere in the dungeon, which will require you to check rooms through the board game. You need to move the white pieces to open up the locked rooms one by one and see what’s inside. Since it’s a random drop from a specific pool, you won’t know exactly what it is until you get the door open.
To leave the area, reset the board to create a clear path back to the entrance, or respawn at the World Stone checkpoint at the bottom of the dungeon.
