Along the way in your journey through Remnant 2, you will encounter a lot of enemies and tough bosses, each with their unique abilities and challenges. One of these bosses in Remnant 2 is Tal’Ratha, a grotesque creature that dwells on the planet N’Erud. He is not only a boss, but also a key character in the game’s storyline. Depending on your choices, you will face either his physical or metaphysical form, and get different rewards and outcomes. In this guide, we will show you where to find Tal’Ratha, how to defeat him, and what to expect from each choice.
Remnant 2 Tal’Ratha Boss Location
Tal’Ratha is one of the two major World Bosses that you can encounter in N’Erud, the other being The Nightweaver Sha’Hala. You’ll meet this guy while you’re into the Tal’Ratha and The Shining Essence Echo storyline, which starts by either talking to The Custodian or Tal’Ratha himself via an intercom in the Forgotten Prison.
The Custodian, if you choose to talk to him, will fill you in on Tal’Ratha’s not-so-friendly plan to consume all life on N’Erud. He’ll then point you towards the Astropaths Temple to find Tal’Ratha’s physical form. This place is hard to miss; it’s a huge, church-like building with a glowing eye right on top of its spire.
But you can’t just enter into the temple but you need to find these Soul Sparks first. These sparks are placed in a semi-buried bunker somewhere in the same area. Once you have the Soul Sparks, you can use them to unlock the temple door and that’s when you get to have your showdown with Tal’Ratha.

Remnant 2 Tal’Ratha Fight: How to Defeat this Boss
When you reach the Astropaths Temple, you will have a bit of a chat with Tal’Ratha. During this moment, he will give you a wild choice: let him eat you for eternal salvation, or refuse and fight him. But no matter in which way you want to progress, the fight with him is a must. Let’s break down each scenario.
If You Refuse to Be Eaten
In this way, you choose to fight Tal’Ratha’s physical form; good on you for standing your ground. You’ll face this enormous, bloated monster dripping in toxic goo. The key here is to target his gaping mouth – that’s his Achilles’ heel. But watch out, this guy isn’t just a big blob. He’s quick and can charge at you three times consecutively. Your best option here is to dodge to the side each time he charges. Once he pauses, that’s your moment to strike.
Tal’Ratha’s also got some tricks up his sleeve. He can try to suck you in with his mouth, and then hit the ground or slam his body, creating a shockwave. When you see this, jump over the shockwave to avoid damage. And his ranged attacks are a real pain. He’ll throw gas canisters that bring zombies to the party, spit damaging black blobs or vomit, and launch glowing orbs that track you. You can shoot down the orbs, but for the rest, keep moving to dodge them.
If You Let Him Eat You
Now, if you decide to let Tal’Ratha eat you, things get weirder – you face his metaphysical form. This version is smaller and way more agile. He loves to teleport around the arena, making him a tricky target. Aim for his head whenever you get a clear shot – that’s his weak point in this form.
He’s still fond of his charge attack, but now he teleports between attacks, so be ready to dodge in various directions. And then, there’s his new arsenal of attacks; he’ll create star-shaped explosions that cover a large area. The star shower attack is particularly nasty as he’ll send stars all over the place, followed by a heavy rain of stars. You need to protect yourself from the first three waves and then be ready for the final, most destructive wave.
In both scenarios, Tal’Ratha is no walk in the park. But remember, each form has its weaknesses, and your agility and sharpshooting are key. Stay on your toes, dodge effectively, and aim for those weak spots.
Rewards for Defeating Tal’Ratha in Remnant 2
If you kill his physical form, the big, gooey monster version, you’ll get the unique Spice Bile. Sounds gross, but it’s pretty good because you can use it to craft the Nebula. It’s an awesome handgun that shoots explosive projectiles.
But if you decide to go metaphysical and beat his other form, you’ll get your hands on the specific Acidic Jawbone. This item is your ticket to crafting the Gas Giant, which is as cool as it sounds. It’s a melee weapon, but not just any melee weapon – it releases toxic gas on impact; a stinky but effective way to take down enemies.
There’s more than just cool gear at stake here. Your choice shapes the story of N’Erud. If you refuse to be eaten by Tal’Ratha and beat him, you’re a hero. You free the planet from his creepy influence, and The Custodian will be grateful and stuff. But if you go with the “let him eat you” option for transcendence, you end up joining Tal’Ratha in his wild quest – he’ll praise you for being so wise. Either way, you wrap up the Tal’Ratha and The Shining Essence Echo storyline.
