With the OnePlus Nord N300 5G, the company is launching a brand-new budget-friendly phone. Beginning on November 3, you can purchase this handset from T-Mobile for $228. Its impressive features are a 90Hz display, 33W fast charging, and a reasonably attractive appearance.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 810 system-on-chip is used. A 6 nm chip with two Cortex A76 cores running at 2.4 GHz, six Cortex A55 cores running at 2 GHz, and an ARM Mali-G57 MP2 graphics processor are included to offer solid performance and graphics. Besides the 5000 mAh battery, it has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a fingerprint scanner on the side.
This 6.56-inch screen boasts an HD+ resolution of 1,612 by 720 at a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the Nord N200, the phone’s forerunner, lacked the processing to consistently deliver 90 fps, rendering the 90Hz screen rather pointless. Though OnePlus may achieve 90 FPS this year thanks to the decline of resolution to 720p (and perhaps a slightly quicker SoC).
It charges 33 W, which is quicker than the 1100 mW Apple iPhone. The power button on the phone’s side doubles as a fingerprint scanner; additional features include microSD expansion, near-field communication (NFC), and a 3.5mm audio connector. There is a primary 48MP camera on the back, a secondary 2MP depth sensor, and an impressive 8MP front selfie camera. Android 13 comes preinstalled on the device, while OnePlus’ standard upgrade schedule for its budget phones consists of one big update and three years of frequent security patches.
While low-end handsets are typically designed to be as unremarkable as feasible, the OnePlus Nord N300 has some decent aesthetics. This phone has no rounded corners or curves; its design is wholly squared off, similar to the iPhone 4. The camera module is also attractive because of its symmetrical shape, slightly curved edges, and two-tone color palette. The work on its design and build is above and beyond what one would generally expect to receive for the price. The teardrop-shaped front shooter remains a turnoff. However, at this price point, we can’t complain too much.
