New reports are surfacing about Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 14 launch event, which is expected to take place in September 2022. According to Bloomberg, Apple will reveal its latest iPhone lineup and a new Apple Watch series on September 7.
Apple typically holds its annual event in the first week of September, and this year is no exception. Mark Gurman’s report says the presentation will once again be streamed online, just like during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier rumors had suggested a September 13 date, but Bloomberg’s report now says it’s earlier than that.
Aside from the earlier timeline, Apple will follow its usual launch pattern. Along with the iPhone 14, the company may also update the iPad Pro (2022) and AirPods lineup. Preorders for the new iPhones are reportedly to start on September 9 and in-store availability on September 16. Major retailers have already been told to prepare for the upcoming Apple products.
The iPhone 14 Lineup
The upcoming iPhone 14 will have four models: the standard iPhone 14, a new larger iPhone 14 Max, and the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple likely has discontinued the smaller Mini version in favor of the Max, for users who prefer a big display but are on a budget. The base and Max models will still have the A15 chip and standard camera setup, unlike the upgraded Pro variants.
The Pro models will reportedly drop the classic notch for a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout to give a more modern look. They are also expected to feature an always-on display, a known feature from flagship Android devices, and Apple’s latest A16 Bionic chip for better performance.
Apple’s software is almost done with iOS 16 in its sixth beta, which means public release is expected soon after the iPhone 14 launch. This September’s Apple event is going to be one of the most exciting in years. With new devices, new chips, and new design choices, the iPhone 14 series could be the start of another big chapter for Apple’s smartphones.
