If the prediction from a user of Reddit is correct, Apple Music will be coming to the PS5 shortly.
A Redditor shared a screenshot showing Apple Music appearing in the PS5’s music menu, which can be accessed through the control center, under the Spotify option. Spotify is the only streaming platform publicly known on the PlayStation.
On creating a new PlayStation 5 account, the user found the Apple Music option. However, when the user clicked on the Apple Music icon on the PS5, an error warning stated that the software could only be used on the PS4.
Since many of the PS5’s media applications are simply Playstation 4 programs operating on the PS5, this appears to be the typical PS5 error message when an app is missing.
In order to mimic the Apple Music prompt, Eurogamer created a fresh US account, however, they were unable to recreate receiving the notification. According to reports, Sony is presently putting the feature through its paces ahead of official disclosure.
Apple and Sony continue to work together
The fact that Apple Music will be available on Sony’s PS5 is not shocking to anyone who has been following the company’s recent collaborations. For the next six months, Apple TV Plus will be free for PlayStation 5 customers. It was also revealed during an Apple event that the PS5 DualSense controller is now compatible with Apple devices running iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, tvOS 14.5, and macOS 11.3 and newer, advertising it as a perfect companion for Apple Arcade members to play their games with. The DualSense controller is now available for purchase through the Apple Store as well.
Could Apple slip in a statement about Apple Music coming to Ps5 at its upcoming presentation on Monday, October 18? Even though Sony’s new 3D audio capability would be nice, Apple could potentially use it to bring its Spatial Audio feature to the PS5.
