With the iPhone 14 launch right around the corner, leaks are surfacing faster than ever, and the latest one throws off all our earlier price predictions.

A recent report from Korean platform Naver, shared by leaker yeux1122, cites a U.S.-based developer who reportedly has access to a finalized production model of the iPhone 14. And while most eyes are on Apple’s next hardware and design tweaks, this leak mentions something arguably more important — the price.

Price Twist: Could Apple Be Turning Out Things?

For months, reports have suggested that both the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max would see a $100 price increase compared to last year’s models. But according to yeux1122, that might not happen. In fact, Apple will probably go in the opposite direction and reduce prices for the standard iPhone 14 and 14 Max.

If this turns out to be true, it would be a major pricing shift for Apple that could help the company soften the blow of inflation and spread its base lineup appeal.

Another detail from the same leak points to a 30W wired fast-charging option for the iPhone 14 series. That’s an increase from the current 20W and a welcome change for users tired of waiting hours for a full charge.

Wireless charging, though, seems unchanged. Apple’s MagSafe will reportedly remain capped at 15W, though the magnetic connection might be improved. The leaker also mentioned a new MagSafe battery pack, possibly an upgraded version of Apple’s existing snap-on power accessory. As with all recent iPhones, you’ll still need to bring your own charger as Apple won’t give one in the box.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max will likely have a smaller battery than the 13 Pro Max, which was already one of the best battery phones. Apple is hoping this new chip and display tech will cancel out the smaller battery, so we don’t have to worry about performance taking a hit.

As for how it will all play out, the leaks have given us a little better idea than early rumors did. We know the new A16 Bionic chip won’t be some huge leap forward, but it will be faster, better at keeping cool & using less power than the A15. It’s exclusive to the Pro and Pro Max models, the others will stick with last year’s A15 chip, a deliberate move by Apple to keep Pro models ahead of the pack.

We might also see some new (and probably pretty cool) colour options this year. Apparently, the iPhone 14 will come in green, blue, purple, black, red, and white, with the Pro models getting purple, green, silver, gold, and graphite finishes – purple is expected to get some love across both lines.

Whether or not any of this will turn out to be true has to wait until Apple’s event just a couple of weeks from now, on 7th September. More to the point, though, the pricing rumors and other whispers all point to Apple making Pro models even more premium while bringing the regular iPhones in at a slightly better price point.

While yeux1122 has a good track record, none of this is confirmed till the Apple event. However, the price rumors line up with other reports on Apple’s plan to keep Pro’s premium and make base models more affordable. Apple’s event will take place on September 7, so we won’t have to wait too long to see how much truth there is in these claims.
