World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion introduced Allied Races. You had to earn their trust by completing their quests and increasing reputation with them, and convince them to join one of the main factions. In the WoW Shadowlands, Allied Races are still available to unlock, and one of the famous ones is Zandalari Trolls. The race has received a makeover compared to the original Troll characters to address players’ criticisms in the previous race.
This guide tells how to unlock Zandalari Trolls in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. Even though it takes some effort—especially if you didn’t follow the Battle for Azeroth War Campaign—you can get this race easily.
How to Unlock Zandalari Trolls in WoW: Shadowlands

To unlock the Zandalari Trolls in World of Warcraft, you need to earn the Allied Races: Zandalari Troll achievement. Here’s a complete walkthrough to guide you through the journey:
Tides of Vengeance
First, complete the War Campaign from both parts 8.0 and 8.1, a series of quests and battles from the Battle for Azeroth DLC. This campaign must be finished to unlock the Zandalari Trolls in Shadowlands. The Tides of Vengeance Trophy includes the following objectives:
- Mekkatorque’s Battle Plans
- The Day is Won
- Through The Front Door
- Fly Out To Meet Them
You should improve your standing with the Zandalari Empire, and to do this, complete their quests and participate in world tasks within Zuldazar. Don’t forget to take on the faction’s emissary missions and any faction assaults you encounter there.
Zandalar Forever
In Zandalar Forever, you have to complete these five stages:
- The Throne of Zuldazar
- The Dark Heart of Nazmir
- Secrets in the Sands
- A Bargain of Blood
- The Final Seal
Finish the main storylines in all three zones to set up the final phase and complete the Blood Gate questline (A Bargain of Blood) and The Final Seal.
Allied Races: Zandalari Troll
To earn the Allied Races: Zandalari Troll achievement, complete the quest series “A Royal Occasion” that rewards you with the achievement for completion. The Ready for War achievement has eight different stages:
- Drustvar Foothold
- Stormsong Valley Foothold
- Tiragarde Sound Foothold
- The First Assault
- The Marshal’s Grave
- Death of a Tidesage
- At the Bottom of the Sea
- The Strike on Boralus
Some of the steps in this war campaign require you to collect Honorbound rep, which you can farm through world quests in Kul Tiras, Darkshore, and Arathi. You can further earn them from the Honorbound emissary mission and faction invasions.
During A Royal Occasion, head to The Great Seal in Dazar’alor and meet the Zandalari emissary and finish the quest chain. Stick it out, and you’ll have the Zandalari Trolls swearing fealty to you and rolling out the red carpet into the Horde. You will also unlock the Allied Races: Zandalari Troll achievement, the Zandalari Direhorn mount, and the Tabard of the Zandalari.
If you are under level 50, you will only see the first three phases. But on the required level, you can kick off the first phase of the Horde War Campaign. Once finished, you will get the Tides of Vengeance title, and the campaign ends here.
Zandalari Troll Racials
- City of Gold: This trait is for all treasure hunters and gives a gold haul a 2% increase when they loot it from creatures.
- Loa: It lets players pick a Loa by making an offering at Loa Shrines, which gives them some good special abilities.
- Pterrordax Swoop: This trait is a lifesaver, literally. It slows down the fall speed for two minutes.
- Regeneration: This racial restores a whopping 100% of max health in just six seconds.
Zandalari Troll Classes
- Druid: Druids use nature’s tremendous powers to maintain equilibrium and defend the living. The Zandalari Troll Druid may get nature’s primal force on enemies.
- Hunter: The call of the wild pulls many explorers into the harsh environment from the safety of their homes.
- Mage: The Mage’s is for those with a sharp brain and unyielding dedication. Magi have access to terrible arcane power, which is only disclosed to the most dedicated players.
- Mong: When Mogu conquered the Pandaren decades earlier, the monks gave the Pandaren hope for the future. Because their slave masters forbade them from using weapons, these Pandaren began to concentrate on channeling their energy and learn unarmed battles. They were well enough to break down the shackles of slavery whenever the rebellion chance arose.
- Paladin: Zandalari Troll Paladin is to defend the innocent, deliver justice to the wicked, and destroy demons from the world’s dark recesses. Such freedom fighters are armored to face even the toughest opponents, and the Light’s grace permits warriors to cure injuries and, in rare situations, even bring the dead back to life.
- Priest: Priests are spiritually committed and help people to show their dedicated loyalty. They’ve been leaving the boundaries of their chapels and the sanctuaries’ safety for centuries, other than giving support to their friends in battle regions.
- Rouge: The agreement is the only rule among Zandalari Troll Rogue, and the honor is bought for gold. The soldiers thrive on violent and smart techniques since they aren’t bound by guilt.
- Shaman: Shamans are mystical advisors and specialists who work with the elements instead of the divinity. Zandalari Troll Shaman communicates with entities that aren’t always good.
- Warrior: Warriors from all races always aspired to experience the thrill of fighting until the conflict lasted. Heroes use their power, command, and weapon expertise, as well as armor, to inflict chaos in battle.
