In a major turn of events, Pixelmator, the firm behind various image editing applications such as Pixelmator for iOS, Pixelmator Pro, and others, has announced in its new blog post that it has been acquired by Apple. The monetary value of the acquisition was not disclosed, but the company says that the deal is subject to regulatory approval with the following statement.
“Pixelmator has signed an agreement to be acquired by Apple, subject to regulatory approval. There will be no material changes to the Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps at this time. Stay tuned for exciting updates to come.”
The company expressed a ton of excitement about joining Apple, saying that the Cupertino giant inspired it since day one, and it took that very inspiration to develop tools that focused on design, performance and ease of use. Pixelmator says that it is ‘crazy’ how a small group of ‘dedicated’ individuals have managed to achieve after the company commenced its humble beginnings from Vilnius, Lithuania.
With the acquisition, Pixelmator says that it can reach a wider audience and make an even larger impact for creative people all over the world. The company does not mention which changes are arriving to the platform, and states that we should ‘stay tuned for exciting updates to come.’ As of now, there will be no material changes to Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS and Photomater.
