Apple has announced the new compact Mac mini with an M4 and M4 Pro chip, which is significantly smaller than its predecessor but noticeably more powerful. Apple’s M4 Pro chip is the first upgrade the company announced after the M4 chip, and it packs up to 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores for enhanced computational and graphical output.

According to Apple, the M4 Pro chip features “the world’s fastest CPU core with lightning-fast single-threaded performance. The company also claims that the M4 Pro Mac mini also features twice as fast graphical performance. If you are not keeping up with the specs, the M4 Pro chip features up to 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU coupled with a 16-core Neural Engine, which would come in handy for the new Apple Intelligence features.
The redesigned Mac mini with M4 Pro chip can also be configured to house up to 64GB of RAM. As for the CPU cores, the chip features 10 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The device is sure to be blazing fast when it comes to day-to-day tasks as well as performance-centric tasks such as rendering videos.
Speaking of performance, the M4 Pro chip-equipped Mac mini also features support for Thunderbolt 5 connectivity with up to 120 Gbps data transfer speeds and an increased memory bandwidth of 273 Gbps. For comparison, the memory bandwidth has been increased by 75 percent compared to the M3 Pro chip, and the real-world performance would be vastly improved.
