A Rayman remake is currently in the works, and members of the recently disbanded Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown development team are said to be working on the game alongside the series’ creator, Michel Ancel.
As reported today by Insider Gaming, this remake, known internally as Project Steambot, is getting put together by a team located primarily at Ubisoft Milan, the studio behind many successful projects, including the Mario + Rabbids series. Members of the recently disbanded Ubisoft Montpellier studio, the team behind the latest entry in the Rayman series, Rayman Origins, and Legends, are part of the development team, and the series creator, Michel Ancel, is also on board as a consultant. His presence, however, is causing concern among the development team members due to his toxic leadership, which came to light in 2020 following the abandoning of the Beyond Good & Evil 2 development.
As Ubisoft has yet to confirm a Rayman remake is indeed in the works, we have to take everything revealed by Insider Gaming today with a grain of salt. The outlet proved to be extremely reliable in the past, however, so there’s a very good chance that the classic platform game series is indeed coming back in the future.
