Minisforum has introduced a brand new external GPU, this time based on the budget RDNA 3 graphics. Minisforum already has several eGPUs in its catalog and various products that facilitate using graphics cards on mini-PCs. The latest one in the market is the “MGA 1,” which brings the power of RDNA 3 architecture.
The MGA 1 boasts an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU and 8 GB VRAM. The standard desktop variant features 16 GB of video memory, but the MGA 1 will have half of its VRAM size. Nonetheless, it will feature the same 128-bit memory bus width and NAVI 33 die. With 2048 stream processors, it’s capable of playing almost all modern titles on ultra settings at 1080p.
Hence, the MGA 1 is a capable eGPU for mini-PCs that can be docked anywhere for accelerated gaming performance. The chassis has a vented design and is minimalistic. It can be carried in a long pocket since it is smaller than the traditional desktop GPU design. Equipped with several I/O ports, the docking station is capable of powering up to three displays simultaneously and also offers a 65W Power Delivery port for fast-charging mobile devices such as smartphones and laptops.
