Intel’s first Arc Battlemage product, the Arc B580 graphics card, seems to have been spotted at the shipping outlet, NBD.ltd.
Shipping log reveals Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU for the desktop but the official release remains unknown
While still a bit early, the latest leak likely refers to the upcoming desktop gaming GPU from Intel, known as Intel Battlemage. Intel’s next-gen Battlemage discrete GPUs were rumored to be in the works but up until now, there hasn’t been any official confirmation by Intel.
The X user @josefk972 reported that the first Intel Battlemage GPU was spotted in the NBD shipping manifest, revealing the GPU model. As per the log, we can see that it is named “INTEL BMG B580″, which should be the name of the Xe2-based Arc Battlemage dGPU for desktops.
While not much has been revealed regarding this GPU, it should be a mid-range offering from the company, succeeding the Arc B580. The listing also lists what it looks like to be the box size. The dimensions are 192 x 89 x 381 mm, which again hints at a regular discrete graphics card for the desktop. It should be noted that the Alchemist lineup had a similarly positioned product known as the Arc A580 which was priced under the $200 US segment and featured a very decent price-to-performance proposition.
That said, this manifesto reveals that the Intel Battlemage discrete GPUs exist, and we did report previously that Intel is not ditching the discrete GPUs as was rumored previously. However, it’s not known how Intel is going to approach the next-gen GPU market, since there seems to be no competition for NVIDIA’s high-end Blackwell cards.
AMD is already out of the competition and will only bring the Navi 44 and 48 GPUs based on its RDNA 4 architecture to tackle the budget and mid-range offerings from NVIDIA. Intel, on the other hand, may stick to the same categories as well. As of now, Intel still lags behind the current discrete GPU competition as it has been just 2 years since it announced its first discrete GPU lineup, known as Intel Arc Alchemist.
The GPUs did fine but couldn’t compete directly with AMD and NVIDIA, but the hopes are still there for the Arc Battlemage series. Currently, the only lineup that features the Xe2 architecture is the Lunar Lake mobile CPUs, which bring Xe2-LPG integrated graphics. The discrete GPU lineup will be based on the Xe2-HPG architecture, making it much more powerful than the Alchemist graphics cards.
It’s possible that Intel may reveal some information regarding the Battlemage at the end of 2024 or at least in the early part of 2025 when NVIDIA and AMD are going to launch their next-gen GPUs. It was recently reported that December 2024 is eyed as the debut month of these next-gen GPUs, so let’s see if Intel is prepped to introduce its next-generation desktop lineup for the masses.
