MSI officially announces AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU support on its X870, X870E & older 600-series motherboard lineups.
Built for peak gaming performance, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will now be fully compatible with MSI’s X870(E) chipset motherboards
MSI has officially announced in a press release that it has updated its X870E & X870 motherboards to support the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU was recently revealed by AMD, built for leading gaming performance and high computing power.
MSI says,
The Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D is designed for peak performance with improved IPC and superior power efficiency compared to the previous generation, promising an exhilarating leap in computing power.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D is based on the Zen 5 architecture and is compatible with the AM5 socket. This means that the existing X870 and X870E motherboards will support the CPU natively but will require a BIOS update. Thankfully, MSI provided the update before the official CPU launch through the AGESA 1.2.0.2a BIOS update, which will now support the Ryzen 9800X3D CPU.
The support page previously listed that it would support Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but has now been updated to “Ryzen X3D series CPU”. This means not only will the AGESA 1.2.0.2a patch offer full compatibility with Ryzen 7 9800X3D but also with the upcoming higher-end chips such as Ryzen 9900X3D and Ryzen 9950X3D.
With the BIOS update, users can achieve incredible computing performance in both gaming and productivity with the 9000X3D chips across all the X870 and X870E motherboards….
