Four years after CD Projekt RED announced its futuristic role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 for multiple platforms, the game is finally arriving on the Mac in 2025. Given that the title is exceptionally taxing, even on high-end hardware, Frame Generation support is arriving for the platform, and if you want to turn up some of that ‘eye candy,’ path tracing will also be available at launch.

The official launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was riddled with massive performance issues, to the extent that Sony had to pull the game from its official PlayStation Store and issue refunds. Fortunately, the developer maintained its stance of introducing a bevy of patches that would stabilize the framerate while also introducing visually impressive features such as path tracing, which CD Projekt RED and NVIDIA recommend an RTX 4000 series GPU to enable.
The developer has made the announcement below but has yet to mention which Apple Silicon Macs will be compatible with Cyberpunk 2077. We have also yet to learn which chipset will be powerful enough to enable path tracing. As for Frame Generation, it is likely AMD’s FSR 3 implementation that will be available for Macs, as Apple has yet to introduce its native version of interpolation. However, the technology giant’s MetalFX upscaling technology should be baked into the game.
