Apple has just announced the new MacBook Pro models, which feature the new M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. Externally, the machines are identical to their predecessors, but the spec bump would allow the devices to be significantly upgraded. The new MacBook Pro models come in Apple’s 14-inch and 16-inch standard, but the company has seen fit to upgrade the base RAM count for all models.

As mentioned, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are part of Apple’s annual upgrade cycle, which features major performance gains compared to older models. If you want to get one for yourself, the new ‘Pro’ models have a lot going for them. The machines come in three variants: the standard base version will simply feature the M4 chip, the mid-range model will house the M4 Pro chip, the same as the Mac mini and the top tier model will feature the M4 Max chip.

Apple has also upgraded the 14-inch MacBook Pro base version with 16GB of RAM compared to only 8GB on the previous variant. The company appears to be working on upgrading its entire product line with more RAM, possibly to make it easier for the machines to handle Apple Intelligence features the company has planned for the future.
