All of Apple’s Mac mini models have shipped with a premium aluminum enclosure, which not only improves the compact computer’s aesthetics but also its durability. The latest version, which is significantly smaller than past launches, also sports the same build materials. While this formula has worked out in Apple’s favor for quite a while, some of us would agree that it has become stale. However, what if that was not the case and users would have the option to customize the top enclosure, making it appear somewhat similar to the iMac G3’s translucent plastic case? Well, an accessories manufacturer teases that this might be a possibility.
Other companies can also follow suit, and it would cost less to mass produce Mac mini enclosures in different colors because of their smaller footprint
A Mac mini with a ‘see through’ enclosure was teased by Spigen on X, with the caption ‘what if…..’ Naturally, those who follow Apple’s hardware launches would be intrigued as to what the accessories manufacturer is up to. The image at the top shows an orange-colored translucent cover, with cutouts precisely made for the two USB-C ports at the front, a 3.5mm headphone jack on the right and an LED light right next to it.
Spigen has yet to voice its actual intentions, but it has responded to a few people on the thread with replies that read ‘you never know,’ hinting that there might be some interest in mass producing these enclosures.
