In every SEO strategy, the focus is to rank the website higher in the search engines. To do this, we design and develop our websites in such a way that Google algorithms like. This is called SEO. Google divides the SEO factors into two categories that determine the ranking of your website: On-page SEO and Off-page SEO.
In this article, I’m going to tell you on-page SEO, its optimization and ranking factors that are necessary to get higher rankings in search engines.
What is On-page SEO?
Optimizing the web pages to improve search engine rankings and getting organic traffic is what includes in on-page optimization. It is also known as on-site SEO. On-page SEO includes the optimization of web pages while in off-page SEO, we have to create backlinks and have to do other activities outside of the website.
On-page SEO includes the optimization of web pages so that they will get higher rankings in search engines and your website will get a good amount of organic traffic. Some of the common things that you have to do in on-page optimization are optimizing title tags, content, internal links, and URLs.
In addition to publishing the relevant and high-quality content, on-page SEO also includes optimizing headings, HTML tags (titles, meta, and headers), and images. It includes many aspects of the website. When they all come together, they will increase the rankings of the website in the search results.
The majority of the on-page SEO practice seems to focus on the addition of your exact targeted keywords in the content, in the title, in the meta description, in H1, etc. But this practice is out outdated.
Now Google is able to understand the synonyms and semantically related keywords. This means you no longer have to add exact keywords in your web pages and titles. Let’s take a look at the example that I’m saying. Here are the search results of the keyword “best dell laptop”:
These are the results of the first page and no single title contains the exact keyword that the user is searching for but the information that the user need is absolutely right. Because of all these synonyms keywords of “best dell laptop” and contains the exact information that someone is looking for. Google understands that you are looking for information to buy a new laptop.
Importance of On-Page SEO
On-page SEO is very important because it helps search engines to understand your website and its content. If everything is perfectly optimized then the results will be great for you. It also helps search engines to know if your content is relevant to the search queries.
As search engines are becoming more sophisticated, there is a greater focus on relevance and semantics in SERPs (search engine result pages).
Google’s report about “How to search algorithms work” states that:
Google with its huge number of algorithms, is now very good at:
- Understanding the users’ query what actually they are looking for.
- Providing users with the same results that they are looking for or interested in.
According to the above-mentioned points, you have to prepare your web pages and optimize them in such a way that the Google algorithms can understand them.
The content on your page should be the same as according to the title. Because a user comes to your page after reading the title. If information is the same according to the title and is valuable. So, the user will spend more time on your website and will take interest in your website. Google will also understand that users are spending more time on this website. It means this website contains quality and valuable content.
You can design your website according to the above points and Google algorithms, by ensuring that your web pages and it’s content, both what is visible to users such images, text, video, or audio and those elements that are only for the search engines such as HTML tags, structured data, etc. are well optimized. To rank your web pages in search engines, you also need to optimize your content for:
- User experience
- Bounce Rate
- Search Intent
- Page loading speed
- CTR (Click-through Rate)
If you work hard on your on-page SEO strategies, you will definitely see an increase in your organic traffic your pages will appear in search results.
On-Page SEO Ranking Factors

E-A-T means Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It is part of Google’s Search Quality Rated Guidelines. This is a framework that raters use to evaluate the quality of Google search results.
Google always supports high-quality content. He wants to give good rankings to the websites that are working hard to create quality content and those whose content is not of good quality get less visibility.
Google wants that whenever a user wants to get any content or information from Google, he should always be provided with the best, quality, and valuable content according to his search query. So that users’ trust in Google increase.
E-A-T is somehow playing its role in Google’s organic search results. It means you should also consider E-A-T in your SEO strategies.
2. Title Tag
The title tag is the most important factor in on-page SEO. Because it gives the search engines a clear overview of what your content is about. It is the title of your web page that appears in the search results. The highlighted area is the title tag of the web page in the below image:
This title indicates your content and what you wrote about in your article. This is the title that appears in the results of the search engines. You use your targeted keyword within this title which is very important in terms of SEO. Using your keywords in title tags helps search engines to understand what your web page is about and which information you are providing.
Another important thing is as much your keyword is closer to the beginning of the title, the more best according to the search engines.
There is some impact of title tags in organic rankings. This means if title tags are duplicate, missing, or poorly written, they can negatively impact the SEO results. So always be careful when writing your title tags and always make sure that titles are well optimized.

The meta description is the one that appears below the title tag in the search engine result pages (SERPs). It is the summary of your web page that describes what your page is about, which content your page contains. Following is an example in which the highlighted area shows the meta description:
According to Google, meta descriptions are not very helpful in rankings. But it helps users to understand your page. One important fact is that Google bold the words of your meta description that are similar to the user search terms. In the above image, you can see the words “title” and “tag” are bolded. Because this is the search result of “what is title tag”. As the search query contains “title tag”. Google have bolded the words title and tag in the meta description, this thing attracts users.
But its correct optimization can help to improve:
