According to the recent notice shared to its customers by the British carrier EE, “Wi-Fi calling on other supported iCloud-connected devices” will be discontinued on the iPhone on December 9 (via MacRumors). If you are not familiar, the feature allows users to make Wi-Fi calls on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac even when the iPhone is away. Last week, Apple released the second beta version of iOS 18.2 to developers, and it came packed with a new EE carrier settings version with a number of 60.5.2, updated from 59.5.1 in the first developer beta.
The new setting eliminated the “Add Wi-Fi Calling for Other Devices” feature from the Wi-Fi Calling in the Settings for EE carrier users. The EE carrier also previously announced that it will end support for the feature next month. Besides this, carrier settings are typically bundled with a new iOS update, and if EE has decided to end support for Wi-Fi Calling on Other Devices on December 9, it is an indication and a hint that suggests iOS 18.2 will arrive on the same day.
