Red Barrels made the announcement today that The Outlast Trials will be getting a new and thrilling update before the year ends for all of those excited horror fans out there. This title has been nominated for Best Horror Game of the Year, Best Multiplayer, Most Accessible Horror Game, and Best Survival Horror Game at this year’s Horror Game Awards. This year has been a bit tough for Red Barrels, as they faced a significant cybersecurity threat that pushed them back in their work and delayed the release of some of the content they had planned. However, they’re now back and scarier than ever with the upcoming Project Breach update for The Outlast Trials.
Project Breach is a huge new update, which will be introducing Amelia’s story to the game, alongside a new trial, new map, a new member of the Ex-Pop, and a new jammer Rig, to name some of the few features that will be coming.
Diving into some of the details about the update, you will get to take part in a new Story Trial called “Pleasure the Prosecutor” on a new map called Downtown. This is where you will have to traverse and navigate the horrors of Franco’s twisted cabaret while turning the theater against itself. While all of this is taking place, Murkoff Corporation ensures Reagents are staying focused on their trials with the new content that players will get to explore. In this update, this is the first time that the Reagents may actually have a real chance at escaping the institution that they were locked away in.
Some of Amelia’s story has already been revealed in the new chapter of The Murkoff Collections, where it’s stated that Amelia joined Murkoff’s twisted program deliberately, in search of another Reagent. On her journey, she is determined to bring down Easterman and destroy the Sinyala Facility.
While these features are hefty and are a huge part of the update, there is also a new ending that is set in The Republic of Congo and new MK-Challenges to take part in, such as reuniting a nuclear family and defacing Futtermans. To celebrate the winter season, there is a limited-time holiday event called Winter Kills, with more details to come.
The Outlast Trials: Project Breach update will be available on December 10 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and Xbox.
