Not much has been changed in the newer model except that it is now equipped with a high-bandwidth DisplayPort.
MPG 322URX retains the same specs and design but upgrades DisplayPort and some connectivity features
This time MSI isn’t offering anything significant on its upcoming flagship 32-inch flat gaming display. Surely, there is a “big” upgrade on the newer model, but it’s hardly going to affect the monitor’s overall personality. MSI currently has the MPG 321URX QD-OLED monitor as its high-end 32-inch gaming display that offers top-notch specifications and connectivity for enthusiasts and its successor is about to bring the same stuff to the table.
While the information or product page for the MPG “322URX” QD-OLED isn’t available on the MSI Global website, the monitor page is currently live on MSI China, which reveals the full specifications of the upcoming gaming monitor. After having gone through each and every specification, we compared it to the predecessor, only to find that there are hardly one or two differences.
The biggest one is the DisplayPort upgrade, which has now transitioned from DP 1.4a to DP 2.1, carrying the UHBR20 (Ultra High Bit Rate 20) properties, increasing the total bandwidth from 25.92 Gbps to a whopping 80 Gbps. The DP 1.4a can currently carry 8.1 Gbps per lane across four lanes, while the DP 2.1 can carry 20 Gbps per lane. This increases the bandwidth by around three times, which is massive and helps the connector support up to 16K displays at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz, or 10K at 60 Hz.
The encoding and compression capabilities are also enhanced, which enhances the image fidelity drastically. This means the MPG 322URX can actually display up to 240 Hz at 4K resolution without any compression. However, it’s going to be so difficult to push FPS to such a high number at 4K resolution. Even the best of the current-gen graphics cards, i.e., the RTX 4090 isn’t able to achieve this feat.
It might be possible for the RTX 5090 with DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation enabled, but achieving this at native resolution still looks impossible(in most modern titles). The 322URX retains the same resolution, refresh rate, color gamut, ergonomics, and all other display properties, but there is one more small change. The USB Type-A ports have been upgraded from 2.0 to 3.2, allowing users to add more modern USB devices apart from simple peripherals.
Apart from this, it’s not coming with any enhancements, even on the exterior. The price and availability are still unknown, but stay tuned to find out inthe coming days.
