Apple is slated to launch its next-generation iPhone SE 4 early next year, and the device is expected to bring a handful of front-facing features and changes in terms of design. While we have heard various details related to the device, its single-lens camera module remains a bit unexplored. A new report claims that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a single 48MP camera setup on the back and a 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front, which will allow it to keep up with the rest of the lineup.
iPhone SE 4 to feature a 48MP rear camera and a 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front
According to information obtained from ET News, the iPhone SE 4 will feature an upgraded 48MP camera on the back, which will be a major upgrade over the current SE model. The Korean supply chain report also claims that LG Innotek will supply both 48MP and 12MP camera modules to Apple, while Foxconn and Cowell Electronics will also contribute to camera parts.
If you are not familiar with it, the iPhone 16 also comes with a 48MP wide-angle ‘Fusion’ lens, which allows it to take standard shots as well as wide-angle shots. The camera setup will also allow the device to bolster 2x zoom support through a higher-resolution camera. Other than this, the device will also maintain camera quality on the front with a 12MP lens. It also confirms that the iPhone SE 4 will feature Face ID, which further shares details on the design of the device.
The camera setup will be great for a device that is expected to feature a price tag below the $500 mark. We have previously reported that the price of the iPhone SE 4 will be between $400 and $500, making it the cheapest iPhone with a modern design and powerful internals. The SE 4 will keep up with the performance levels of the higher-end models, possibly with an A18 chip, which is the same chip as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The chip will allow the device to be future-proof and fit the device’s upgrade cycle.
The iPhone SE 4 will house 8GB of RAM, which will make it ready for Apple Intelligence, making it the cheapest Apple product to bring the company’s AI features to the mix alongside the iPad mini 7. Lastly, Apple is also expected to bring its custom 5G modem with the iPhone SE 4, but its performance will be subpar compared to Qualcomm’s modems. It was reported last week that the company is working on three variants of its custom modems, which will launch in the next three years for different devices. We will keep you in the loop as soon as further details are available on the iPhone SE 4. Do you think the SE 4 will take a piece out of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 sales?
