Dimensity 8400 CPU Cluster Details Shared By A Tipster; New Specifications Information Reveal An All-Performance Core Configuration, But Excludes The Cortex-X925

The Dimensity 9400 is not going to be MediaTek’s only chipset featuring a CPU cluster comprising of just performance cores because the company is said to be in the middle of launching its non-flagship SoC, the Dimensity 8400. A tipster has now shared the potential configuration of the upcoming silicon, with one of the major differences being is that it will lack Cortex-X925 cores.

A traditional 8-core cluster is said to be used for the Dimensity 8400, according to tipster Digital Chat Station, in the ‘1 + 3 + 4’ configuration. Unlike the Dimensity 9400, MediaTek is not expected to employ the powerful Cortex-X925 or any Cortex-X4 cores. Instead, the Dimensity 8400 will rely on Cortex-A725, which directly succeeds the Cortex-A720. The rumor states that various clock speeds are being tested for the chipset, with the top-end core apparently touting a variable 3.00GHz, followed by the three Cortex-A725 cores operating at 3.00GHz too.

As for the less powerful Cortex-A725 cores, these appear to be running at 2.00GHz. Bear in mind that these frequencies are unconfirmed and are subject to change as MediaTek looks to find a balance between performance and power efficiency.
