Apple has seen fit to release the third beta of its upcoming tvOS 18.2 and visionOS 2.2 to developers for testing purposes on all compatible devices. If you are a developer, tvOS 18.2 and visionOS 2.2 beta 3 bring some notable improvements to the system, which you can check out for yourself.
Apple seeds visionOS 2.2 and tvOS 18.2 beta 3 to developers
If you are a registered developer, you can download and install the latest tvOS 18.2 update through the Settings app on your Apple TV. However, make sure that your Apple ID is connected to your Developer Account to receive the update over the air. If you have not been keeping up with the latest news, tvOS 18.2 will bring support for projectors with a 21:9 aspect ratio and additional aspect ratios for other devices. The update will allow the Apple TV to detect the aspect ratio of your TV automatically. In addition to this, tvOS 18.2 also brings a new Snoopy screensaver to Apple TV.
Other than tvOS 18.2, Apple has also release visionOS 2.2 to developers for testing and it will bring a new feature to the table, that will support wider range of aspect ratios for Virtual Mac Display. You can download and install visionOS 2.2 from the Settings app on the headset, but make sure that your Apple ID is linked to your Developer Account to receive the update over the air.
visionOS 2.2 will bring several features to the table, including a new Mac Virtual Display option, allowing it to be set to Wide and Ultrawide. Additionally, the Ultrawide setting is equivalent to a dual 4K display set side by side. The feature works pretty similarly to how a real external monitor would work, but at this stage, Vision Pro does not support multiple displays, which means that the new wider aspect ratio option would come in very handy.
Apple will release visionOS 2.2 and tvOS 18.2 to the general public next month, possibly on the 9th of December, alongside the highly anticipated iOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 updates for the iPhone and Mac with major Apple Intelligence upgrades.
