STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is just around the corner after being recently announced as going Gold. The game’s development has taken a relatively long time due to the tragic war between Russia and Ukraine, which has led to the Ukrainian developer having to take drastic measures by delaying the game and working on the title during an active warzone. While plenty of people are excited about STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Russia is potentially trying to silence the game and the company.
The ongoing war led to significant delays, and some of the developers in GSC Game World had to relocate to a new office in the Czech Republic. This is something that they spoke about in the documentary that they released alongside the Microsoft Team, which helped them produce and discuss the story of creating STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl in an active warzone.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is looking like it has the potential to be banned in Russia due to anti-Russian propaganda. A Russian official has said that the game could face a total ban in Russia if the game is found to “justify terrorism” or if the Russian government finds that the content in the game is deemed to be “extremist” or “anti-Russian.” While the game wouldn’t be sold in Russia if this were true, people in Russia would still be able to purchase the game using digital means.
However, as covered by VGC, legal advisor Mikhail Mushailev has stated that Russians who are found to be purchasing the game via a VPN or using any non-direct means could be seen as supporting a “hostile force.” Mushilev has also said that if any Russians are seen purchasing the game, it could potentially meet the requirements…
