AMD’s Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs have now dropped to their lowest prices yet, with the 12-core 9900X down to just $359.

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs have not only received official price cuts since the launch of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D but continue to receive further discounts from retailers. These discounts make the Ryzen 9000 family far better than their initial perf/$ ratings, which were a bit lackluster. However, over the past couple of weeks, AMD has not just strengthened the value proposition of its latest Ryzen desktop offerings but also optimized the performance by a big margin, now making for a competitive product.
The latest price cuts come from popular US retailer, Microcenter, who has listed each of the four Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” CPUs at impressive prices. Starting at the top, we have the Ryzen 9 9950X 16-core chip which is currently available for $569.99, an $80 US drop versus its initial MSRP (-12.3%). This places the chip very competitively against the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and offers better gaming and multithreaded performance in a vast range of workloads.
Following the Ryzen 9 9950X is AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X, which is now available for just $359.99 US. This is a major price drop from the initial MSRP of $499 US (-28%). With this pricing, the chip sits closer to the Core Ultra 5 245K and offers both higher multithreaded performance and also good gaming capabilities.
